Clark's attention was pulled away from his guard duties for a moment when a well dressed, neatly groomed man walked up to the bar across the room and stood next to Lois. A few moments later, the guy got his drink and disappeared into the crowd. Clark exhaled. He wasn't being jealous, or over protective. In fact, he was simply being cautious.

Jane smiled when the customer walked through the second set of doors into the lobby. Her heartbeat sped up, her cheeks flushed, and she temporarily lost the ability to speak. The fact that her body still reacted the same way every time he came in was in itself a mystery. She had thought for sure after seeing him a few times he would become just another familiar face. She had seen him every week for the past few months now, and there was obviously no chance of that normality or familiarity as she had hoped.

Regaining her voice, she greeted him. "Hi. How are you today?" She smiled brightly and it couldn't have been a more genuine smile.

"I'm well. Just need to deposit my paycheck." He smiled warmly and knocked over the cup of pens at the check writing station. "Sorry." He rushed to pick them up and place them back on the stand.
